Tlaloc, Weapon of the Earth

After a long and undetected rest, Tlaloc is finally unearthed! This weapon was created for a rather wealthy Aztec family whose inheritance was lost in time but was unearthed after years of being buried and forgotten.

I had a whole lot of fun with this project, from the sculpting and detailing phase to learning more about the Aztec culture! The feathers on this weapon were inspired by the vibrancy of Quetzal feathers, and were a lot of fun creating and texturing! I will be posting a full breakdown of how I created the feathers, so be on the lookout for that as well as more weapons in this lineup in the future!

This weapon was inspired and created with a modern twist on Aztec culture. The low-poly and high-poly models were created in ZBrush, fully textured in Substance Painter, and rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 3.

UPDATE TIME! I touched up this project by lowering the poly count as well as fixing some UV maps. I also worked on material contrasts to make add some variety.
